Is there a dispensing fee?

Yes. A professional dispensing fee of $7.99 applies to each prescription item filled.

How do I know if a product needs a prescription?

Prescription items are clearly marked on the product page and product image. If you see a prescription notice, you'll need a valid prescription from a licensed Canadian veterinarian before we can ship the item.

How do I submit my prescription?

After placing your order, please make sure we receive a valid prescription from your veterinarian. You can submit it in one of these ways:

  • Email: Have your vet send it directly to columbia@cooksrx.ca
  • Fax: Have your vet send it directly to 226-512-0101
  • In person: Drop it off at Cook's Pharmacy
Can I place my order before my vet sends the prescription?

Yes — in fact, we recommend it. Placing your order first lets us match your prescription to your order as soon as it arrives, which helps speed things along.

At checkout, simply indicate how the prescription will be submitted and include your pet's name. Once your vet sends the prescription, our pharmacy team will match it to your order and begin processing it.

Can I reorder or refill a prescription medication?

Yes. You may request a refill directly, provided your veterinarian authorized refills on the original prescription and valid refills remain. If your prescription has expired or has no refills left, we'll need your vet to send an updated prescription before we can fill your order again.

Do you accept prescriptions from vets outside of Canada?

No — due to regulatory requirements, we can only accept prescriptions issued by veterinarians authorized to practise in Canada.

Can Cook's Pharmacy contact my veterinarian directly?

If your veterinarian has already assessed your pet and prescribed the medication, we can contact the clinic to obtain a copy of the prescription on your behalf.

However, we're not able to contact a veterinarian to request that a medication be prescribed for you — your vet is responsible for assessing your pet and determining whether a prescription is appropriate.

Is Cook's Pharmacy a licensed pharmacy?

Yes. Cook's Pharmacy is a licensed community pharmacy, accreditation number 311163. All medications are reviewed and dispensed by our licensed pharmacists.
