Capstar (nitenpyram) is an oral treatment that starts killing adult fleas within 30 minutes. It helps clear fleas currently on your pet, but it does not provide long-term protection against reinfestation. Elanco product information
Available strengths and directions

Give the tablet by mouth or mixed with food when fleas are found. If fleas reappear, the Canadian label allows treatment to be repeated once daily until fleas are no longer found. Dogs over 57 kg need a veterinarian-directed combination of tablets. Capstar is for puppies and kittens at least 4 weeks old. Canadian product label and dosing
Treat all dogs and cats in the household to help stop fleas from continuing to reproduce. A longer-lasting flea control product is recommended for ongoing protection.
Precautions: Brief scratching may occur as fleas become active before dying. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 25°C and protect from humidity.
