Rx Vitamins Phos-Bind Powder for Dogs & Cats is a pure, superfine aluminum hydroxide (USP) powder that acts as a dietary phosphate binder. When mixed with food, it binds dietary phosphorus in the small intestine so it is excreted in the feces rather than absorbed into the blood. Tasteless and odorless.

Main Uses:

• Management of hyperphosphatemia: reduces elevated serum phosphorus levels in pets with chronic kidney disease (CKD)
• Renal health support: helps slow CKD progression by preventing soft tissue mineralization and secondary hyperparathyroidism
• Dietary phosphate binding alongside or in place of renal-specific diets

Directions:

• General starting dose: 100 mg per kg of body weight daily, divided between meals
• Up to 2.5 kg: 1 scoop daily; 2.6-5.0 kg: 2 scoops daily; 7.6-10.0 kg: 4 scoops daily (0.625 cc scoop)
• Must be given with meals; mix into wet food or adhere to dry kibble with a little water or oil
• Adjust dose every 2-4 weeks based on serum phosphorus blood tests performed by a veterinarian

Safety:

• For veterinary use only; use only under strict veterinary supervision with regular bloodwork
• Constipation is the most frequently reported side effect
• Can interfere with absorption of other medications (e.g., tetracyclines, digoxin, fluoroquinolones); separate by at least 2 hours
